I'm going on a long flight to china from san fransisco....What should I expect?

* What should I bring on the plane ride?

* What should I do on the plane ride?

* Any suggestions or experiences of trips that far?

* Anyone flown United Business class before to China? If so, explain what happens plz!!

United business class is cool.  Make sure you use the business lounge in the airport.  here goes.

First the flight is even longer than you think with airport time and freeway time.  be well rested.

Take along your music if you want to.  There are a lot of entertainment options that are available through the airline.  You will have your choice of many movies, sitcoms, all types of music etc.  On line trivia games which you play against other passengers can be a lot of fun.  so kick back and relax in the big Biz class chairs and have a drink. (your preference)

watch whatever you want on your screen.  Have a good dinner with some wine.  Foods ok on United.  Treat it like a normal day and get some sleep when you are tired.

I am one of those that is an avid reader.  So I usuall get into a book but the nice thing these days is that you have many choices.  You might pick up a china phrase book and study up and if you can find one of the "point to it" books in the book store its a good idea.  Translation problems in China are pretty bad.  Many times a taxi driver does not even understand if you ask for the airport or the train station.  The point to it books have pictures of everything and if you get stumped you just pull it out and point.  Saves lots of time and the chinese think these books are great.  They always want to look through the book and its a good way to break the ice.  I have a great blog for first time travelers if you want it just let me know.  Its a bit large for Q&A

It sounds like you have not experience a long plane ride. Excuse me, but I think you'll be just fine. There's nothing really much different between a long plane ride to somewhere else and to China. You don't have to worry much, there's always the flight attendants to guide you through your trip. So I guess, you just have to enjoy it. Or, if you don't have any patience flying, just sleep and pretend that you're sleeping on your bed.

i am travelling next week to the uk frm australia.. so will be doing the same... its just tht i am in the economy class :(

If you're flying United Business class, then the planes inflight Entertainment system (IFE) should be plenty to keep you entertained and comfortable.  If you like, you can bring books, ipods, laptop.  Best thing on the plane ride is to try and sleep according to the time in China, to minimize your jet lag (China is 15 hours ahead of San Fran.)
