  1. Casual is the dress during the day up to 6:00PM and that means shorts, swim wear, "T" shirts, tank tops, sneakers, sandals, flip-flops, and any type clothing that you would wear if you were home during the day, or at the pool, or at the beach.

The cruise lines want you to take off the swim wear and shorts after 6:00 PM because that's when dinner starts.  Some people will actually go to the main dining room at 6:00 PM and others will go at about 8:30 PM.  But regardless the main dining room is very formal, like a fancy restaurant.

So for dinner the cruise lines want you to dress "SMART CASUAL", or on some cruise lines they call the same thing 'SPORTS CASUAL".  Both of these terms essentially mean that you put on the types of clothes that you would wear to church, or a business meeting, or a party.  So that would be for you a dress, a skirt and blouse, pants or capris and a blouse, or sweater, or sweater shirt.  And shoes other than flip-flops.  They don't really want you to wear sneakers in the main dining room but sandals are OK.

Then on one night of your 3-day cruise there will be an opportunity to dress formal.  That's when you can, if you want to, wear your cocktail dress.  Most of the people on the ship will have on formal dresses, gown, suits and ties and/or tuxedos.  The FORMAL  dress is the requested attire and most people will dress up, but you don't have to if you don't want to.  You can just wear more sports casual clothes.  Actually if you want, you can wear your girl scout troupe uniform and you will be fine.  They will not give you  a fine or deny you entry to anything if you don't dress formal. And most of the times kids on cruise ships do not.

  2. Formal night you can wear either one of those dresses.

As for the other nights,...you just need to not be wearing like t-shirts and stuff... just dress decent and not sloppy.

I think in the resturant it's no shorts or t-shirts rule.

You guys may not want to do the resturant for all those nights too. There are a bunch of resturants and you can also order ALL THE ROOM SERVICE YOU WANT FOR FREE so if you want chicken fingers, cheese cake and chips at 3 am ........girlie girl,..you can have it...free, no charge!

I think you should go to formal night though and get there a few seconds early as there are a bunch of places in the bigger meeting areas where they take your picture with all kind of cool backrounds that you can get with PRO photographers. Your family will have a great 8x10 pic of you for the fireplace mantle as well as a cool pic for your myspace/facebook. Ask them (parents) to give you another 20 bucks to pay for your formal night picture. It's worth it and it's a great memory. This cruise will be something you'll NEVER forget. Have a great time sweetie and be carefull on board...just heard on the news that another person who fell over board.

By the time (IF anyone even knew you even fell over) by the time they send word to the engine room to stop and go back 2 get u,...if they can find you..by then it has been 2 hours. 2 hours of swimming in the dark sea.

So,..me being a mom I'm just saying be careful and no clowning around by the rail..!!!!!  Muwaaaaaaaaaaaa

  3. Casual = swim trunks, shorts, t-shirts, etc..

Smart casual = slacks, collared shirt, capri's, blouse, etc.

Formal = suit and tie, tux, evening gown, etc...
