umm! i think so. but 2 months ago they chucked mine out in emirates. depends on countries and airlines i guess. its best if u put it in the big suitcase u wont be carrying with u. :)

Wish i had 10 pesos for every time i have seen this question about hair straighteners...they sure are popular.  Yes you can put them in your carry-on luggage and irons too.  See Site below.  An thing not listed as prohibited, is allowed.
