  1. Here is my list:

    Show outfit (obviously: jacket...etc)

    Tall Boots

Paddock Boots (for when I'm not showing and just waiting around...)

    Helmet

    Crop/Spurs if needed

    Grooming supplies

Water bucket (if your barn doesn't bring their own)

Water and maybe a snack for yourself...

Something to do while you wait!

    Gloves

    Tack

    Treats!

And anything else that you usually take to a home show!

    Hope I helped!

  2. I'm sure you know to bring your brushes, tack, and all.  When your packing, even though you think you won't need it, bring it.  It's better to have it and not need it, to need it and not have it.  Bring umbrellas, sun screen, people bug spray (as well a horses), comforable cloths and shoes (I think its a good idea to bring cloths to change into as well as shoes so you are not miserable after your classes are done), water (so you don't get dehydrated), chairs (lawn chairs; so incase you want to just sit in frount of the stalls or you want to watch classes but there is no room to sit), SNACKS (I always am hungery after my classes, so bring something yummy, maybe something with some sugar in it as you will probably be tired as well). Um, I can't think of anything else at the moment. really just named common sense ones, but anyway, good luck!

  3. Well...

If this is your first away show than you want to make sure your horse is the most at home he/she can be.Find out what kind of stalls they have and compare the two. If your horse is out to pasture you need to accomadate that by taking them on hand walks. Now. You will need Your saddle needs a saddle rack. Do you want it on the ground? Bridal? On the Ground? So far, you need a saddle rack and bridal rack. Your s. pad can lay over your saddle. (including rizors, jellys, etc.) You should probably have a saddle cover so your sddle doesn't get scrached and stuff. Secondly you need a box! You can buy them at Walmart, Lowes, Sams, where ever. You want one with a lock though! In the box you need everything in it. The ONLY thing you don't want in there is your saddle. Keep your saddle in the Hotel bring it with you after you leave the barn area! You don't want to loose that or get it ripped off! What goes in the box is your grooming box, braiding supplies (in a different groom box), Saddle pads, bridals, Boots if your jumping. (If you event its very helpful to have 2 pairs of boots. 1 for Stadium 1 for XC.)Make sure you have you whips, crops, spurs. Helmet, gloves, whatch, extra socks (always helpful for walking XC course.) Exstra shoes for walking courses. Make sure your prepared for the weather. weather its going to be rainy, sunny, etc. Bring it all you never know! Grain should be in a half bucket in the "big box".  Hay would be best if in a bag. But if not its ok. Remember Shavings/starw. 3 buckets, 1 grain bucket, rake (for mucking) Big bucket for manure. You clothes should be in a garment bag. They should be clean and neatly packed. Boots should be in a bag. In the boot bag there should be zocks, boot pulls, and a boot jack. Remember to bring polish and rags to make your stuff nice and shiny clean! Remember Everything you use everyday HAS to go. Put togather a little equine 1st aid kit, just in case. In the trailor your horse should have something to nibble on...Besides shipping boots I would suggest shipping banddges underneith the shipping boots, just to support there legs a little bit. It would be really nice if you could maybe stop half way and let your horse walk around a little bit..But if you can't make sure you offer him water. When you get there you should walk you horse around (take off boots and such). Have your mom or dad but shavings in the stall, than put your hores in. While you horse is  making shaving angels you can set up water buckets and throw in some hay. Make sure that There arn't any nails and screws before you put your horse in!

Remember to drink water...last year at showjumping rally...one of our team members started throwing up...not fun!

Pony Club has taught me well...Haha!

  5. Just make a check list of everything your horse and you need when your home, then take that with you. You'll need buckets for water and feed, a bale of hay and a hay net, plus any other supplements or vitamins. It's a good idea to take electrolytes as well. Many times horses won't drink enough water at a new place, so you should take the powder form of electrolytes to put in his/her feed. Also remember fly spray and maybe a fly mask. You want your horse to be as comfortable as possible so that he can perform the best to his ability. Make sure you put his tail in a wrap, so he won't get it all tangled, ratty, or pull it out when hauling. Take shampoo and conditioner so you can give him a bath before the show, and don't forget detangler and some of that good ol Show Sheen. Before you leave, go through the barn and make a check list of everything you need, that way you won't forget anything if you get in a hurry the day your leavin. have fun and good luck!

  6. The same things are necessary at a out of town show as they are a local show.
