  1. Rubber soles will make it rather hard to dance properly and they can be a bit of a hazard. If you're just going out dancing this once, I'd still go. However, if you plan on doing a bit of dancing, you could look into having suede soles put on a pair of dress shoes. A pair of Cuban style dance shoes would run you around $50.00. Save your dance shoes for dancing; don't wear them outdoors.

    Good luck and have fun!

  2. no you cann't.

  3. I would suggest leather soled shoes.  Rubber shoe have too much grip and you can injure yourself.

  4. Yes, since you don't have any other options. But be careful - don't twist your ankle. Rubber soles are more dangerous to beginners that for trained dancers.

  5. I wouldn't recommend it. From what I've heard, the reason a lot of dancers don't wear rubber soles is because it causes too much friction. When you're dancing, you usually want less. I recommend shoes with a suede or leather sole.

My instructor and other instructors, from my knowledge, prefer suede shoes- simply because they make better dance shoes.

I have danced with sneakers/vans and other types of shoes, and trust me- it makes a huge difference.
