I'm going skiing in february with my parents to scotland. Both of my parents are learning to ski, so will have instruction. I go every year to austria with school and can go on all of the slopes with ease and go off-piste and do some jumps, So in total i've skiied for 5 week ( 1week per year). Are the scotish slopes much different, will i be able to ski on my own or will i need instruction, i'm level headed so won't delve into something out of my ability. Usually instructors guide you through the slopes, is their any chance of me getting lost if i'm on my own! thanks!

  1. There is just one thing,as curly said in the film Blazing Saddles,do not go alone.I HAD TO COME DOWN ON ONE SKI ONCE ,I DID MY ANKLE LANDING ON A ROCK,YOU NEED COMPANIONS OUT THERE if it is leisure .It is different if you have to be alone,as i was,i was very lucky to get out alive.Always take the safe option on holliday.

  2. i wd go with a small group . it's not clever going ski-ing on your own in case u get into difficulty and someone needs to get help for you. most resorts can match you up with similar ability people. plus it's much more fun with other people. enjoy.

  3. Scottish slopes are tame in comparison to the Alps. But if you're on your own (on or off piste) and you take a bad fall and can't carry on skiing, you're a bit buggered, aren't you?

I'm a more than competent skier, but I'd never ski alone.

  4. Find a group of friends and ski with them. better than skiing alone.

  5. dude it's all good you will not need instruction al piests are marked go have fun rip it up out there

  6. Yes you can.

All the slopes are clearly marked with the same system as in France etc.

Stick on the main runs and you will be safe  - just cross ski's if you break a leg and you'll get airlifted off. Be sure you're off early so you don't get left up there.

Try to meet up with somone at one of the lifts who's in the same boat as yourself - and you can look out for each other on or off piste, and have more adventure with more safety.

I don't know why but I always get colder in the UK than anywhere else. I think it's the damp air.

  7. you'll be lucky to find snow good enough to ski on we get a lot of slush in Scotland but good luck God might be good to you and send a blizzard
