  1. Id say just have a friend coach you. Even tho lessons are good, sometimes you can get stuck with some1 instructing you that really doesn't know, and isn't very good at snowboarding.  Wakeboarding will definitely help you out. Only difference in snowboarding is you have to keep your weight over your front foot instead of leaning back with wakeboading, but the turning and stuff are basically that same with leaning and tilting the board to turn.  Most peoples biggest mistake when learning is leaning back b/c that is your natural reaction, but when your lean back you lose all your edging and that's what makes your turn. \

So bottom line, lessons are good, but you run the risk of getting an idiot instructor.  Are you renting??

    GOOD luck hun!     :  )

  2. Yes, I definately recommend lessons. Without them (you may not know it) but you pick up nasty habits that are hard to shake. And although it's similar, wakeboarding may be different in small areas. If you don't want a full day, just get a morning lesson and a fullday lift pass.

  3. it is really worth it ive had 2 and im getting better bigbear is really good for begginers for kids and adults they teach u how to put ur board on how to move and alot take the lessons they help

  4. Go with a bunch of your friends who are willing to teach you. You won't have to pay for the lessons, and you'll have fun with your friends as well! Wakeboarding is a bit different, but I'm sure you'll be ok as soon as you get the hang of having your feet strapped onto the board... Good luck!

  5. I would definitely recommend getting a lesson.  I'm sure that once you're up on the board your wakeboarding experience might be an asset but having someone show you stopping and getting started could be of help.

You could have friends show you - if you have friends who know - but remember that while your friends know how to snowboard they may not know how to break it down and show you why things work and put into simple lessons that will work right away.

  6. If they have a free one hour lesson like they do here; I would suggest taking that. I don't think you would need an entire day unless you are really uncoordinated. Just remember one every important rule and you won't break anything. If your going to fall you only have two ways you can generally go. Face forward or backward. If you start to fall don't fight it especially in the beginning. If you fall face forward bent your knees and fall on your knees put your hands in front of your face and fall on your elbows. Do not put your hands out in front of you... you will break your wrists. If you fall backwards just sit down. Do not fall on your back... you could knock the wind out of you. Plus, tuck your chin to your chest so you don't hit the back of your head. The most important thing is to have fun.

  7. I took lessons one day and it really helped me! Of course, I've never skated or boarded or anything before. good luck! Its really a blast! Oh. and if you fall, don't roll on your wrist. I sprained mine over Xmas Break :(
