  1. Well i snowboard and started when i was eight i think and when you start the is going to be 2-5 really hard falling on your *** days but then you get the hang of it. Also most ski resorts have snowboarding lessons so you can learn from them too. The first time you go don't go with friends who r really good because you will feel left behind and suckish.

  2. When you fall, fall on your side.. don't fall straight on your bum. You'll break your tailbone. I didn't listen to my instructor when he said that. And I broke mine. And it hurts because they can't do a thing for it except make you sit on a dumb looking donut pillow.

Just play around with it, you'll get it.

  3. Take a lesson!  They offer them for a reason - to keep you safe and to keep the other people on the slopes safe.

If you don't take a lesson it can be super frustrating and you might wind up hurting your self or just straight up hating it.  The instructors are trained to break down the steps into their simplest motions and will have you up and enjoying yourself as fast as is possible.

I can guarantee you that you won't "get it" from the start, it takes everyone at least a day or two, or more, to get comfortable and competent.  Don't worry if you can't just get on the board and shred, it takes time.

  4. dont turn with your shoulders turn with your hips! Bend your knees! To me the hardest part was learning to actually get up. I find it easier to flip over onto my knees then push myself up with my hands...though some people find it easier to stand up straight from sitting on the ground and push themselves up...Just dont get frusterated! It takes a while to learn, you will fall a lot, and you will most likely feel it the next day...but once you get the hang of it then it is a blast! Oh and another thing when you get off the ski lift make sure you get out of the way of others coming off the lift before you stop to put your back foot in your bindings (you ride up the ski lift with your back foot out of the bindings...and when you go to get off the lift put your loose foot and your stomp pad...to help support your foot that is strapped into the bindings while going up the lift put your loose foot under your board)  Good luck! Have fun! Stay safe!

  5. Take a set of lessons from a qualified professional instructor, you'll learn quicker and easier. Follow their instruction and have patience. This is a skill you are learning, it does take some time, but not much.  Did you learn to ride a bike in the first 5 minutes you were on it?  If you really want to do it with the fastest learning curve, take an all day private lesson. and practice the skills.

  6. Quick 1Hr lessons at beginning of the day for the first few times you go would be ideal, if you dont have money for that heres the basics.

All starts with the head, look where you wanna go turn shoulders in same direction followed by hips then swing your back foot out while having your front foot act as a pivot. You need to make sure while swinging your foot out that you raise that edge because if an edge is not pointing in the direction you are going and its flat against the snow it will grab the snow and turn you into a faceplant king.

Thats how to start a turn...also if you keep yourself in the turn and keep going (feet pointing downhill or back downhill) you can brake like that but make sure to be balancing on the edge thats highest up the mountain...thats what will take the most time and be most frustrating...go slow at first but not super slow because its harder to stay balanced at low speeds.
