If the bus is 65 cents...however they charge $60 for a tour which is better? I'm not trying to be cheap...i was told by tour guide they negotiate excursions also. Should I stick with the tour bus or just get a bus and a map guide wih info? We kinda like going around our own pace but want to do the best thing...thanks!

  1. The bus to Chichen Itza from Cancun is more than 65 cents. It's about a two hour drive on the 180 toll road.

How ever you get to Chichen Itza you are going to want a guide so if you have a bus trip and a guide included for $60 I'd say go with that since a guide at the ruins is going to cost you about $40 anyway. If you want to go at your own pace, rent a car, the toll road is expensive but if you are splitting it between a few other people then it could work out cheaper for you.

I'm sure you could take a bus there and back but it's a long day anyway so I wouldn't want to spend time waiting around for bus schedules and trying to get to and from the bus terminals at both ends.
