  1. Keep it simple and easy to take through Customs.

HATS, TEE SHIRTS,Pictures or my favorite to get

    is Cigars!!!!!

  2. Currency

    Ox carts

Anything that says "Puro Vida" (country's moto)

Soccer shirts.  I liked the ones that say "Saprissa Bimbo"  Saprissa is the soccer team.  Bimbo is the bread company that sponsers them.

  3. Authentic souvenirs would be local art and things which reflect the culture. They have a type of wood art here on which they use a hot tool to burn in designs and words like PURA VIDA. you will find small examples like key chains to larger pieces for hanging on the wall

Pottery vases and things are sold in guanacaste and they are really nice, but make sure you leave room in your suitcase for it.

Ox Carts are like a national symbol that represents the old days when men would carry exports over the hills on these colourful carts with wooden wheels that were a combination between spoked wheel and disc wheel concepts.

  4. i'm from costa rica , when my mom comes to  visit me, she always brings me t-shirts,  but they are kind of expensive, the dollar right now is more than 500 (five hundred colones) that means if you have a dollar they change it for 500 or more.   remember don't show any jewelry or expensive glasses.   up there. bye

  5. when i go there or when my family comes to visit me they usually bring me tamales and other costa rican food that's hard to find here.  and they always bring me to t-shirts, but i don't really like the t-shirts they get me.  they're really touristy.  make sure you buy some jewelry there, like ones with wooden beads and are handmade, they are usually a lot cheaper than here.  my parents also like buying little pottery things of gods and c**p.  our house has little clay dudes and pots all over the place.

you can bring home costa rican tamales.  and you should bring home some cheese from the supermarket, just make sure you vacuum seal it so liquid doesn't get all over your clothes.  and if you can, try the ice cream over there!  it's so good and creamy!!!!!!!
