I'm going to Egypt in 2 weeks?

Question

Going to Sharm - el - Sheik, can anyone give me any tips please? Anything from money to what not to do.

first well come to Egypt !

second, Sharm El Sheik is a great place to spend a vacation in it.. I'm sure that you saw many photos on the web about Sharm.

you dont need injections or stuff like this, you will need to take sunblock actually =)) the weather this time of year is hot and sunny, so wear light cotton clothes, shorts..

dont drink tab water, stick to bottled water, there is many brands out there, and large variety of restaurant local & international.. nice coffeshops with great Shisha =)

it will be great holiday, its the city of peace and you will just love it! and enjoy diving, snorkling, parasailing or just lying on the sandy beaches!!

there is a lot of sovunirs to buy, local stuff, hand made in the market, and yes its cheap!

yeah, make sure take loads and loads of warm cloths cause its really cold at this time of year.

Take plenty of sun cream!!!!!!! We went in May and it was very very very hot! The coldest it was was 32 degrees!!!!!!!!! You should also take some of that body cooling mist! Take several cans of it!

Don't drink the water (obviously) and avoid anything that may have been cooked in water, such as pasta and rice. "Eygpt belly" is very very very common - me and my husband both came back with it so take something for diarrhoea!!!!

Also, I heard one common cause of the tummy bug is parasites on the money from changing hands? So it might be advisable to take some antibacterial hand gel and use it before eating.

We really enjoyed it and can't wait to go again! So although the above makes it sound a dodgy place, it's wonderful!

If you like snorkling and fish, definately take an underwater camera!

been there did that... im in alexandria right now and all of egypt it HOT but im lucky because I have sea breeze quite often... sharm is very nice though especially at night there is alot of shopping and eating places you must try movenpick icecream its sooooooooo good :) most hotels there are good their service is better than USA's and most 5 stars for 2 star prices :) the water is wonderful there so warm and clean.. but I went there in march/april and was perfect im not sure about this time of year im going to marsa matrouh tomorrow and spend a week im excited never been there before hope u have great time in egypt :)))

u will find there if u r female alot of Guys  Egyptians wants t speak wid u and try to know you and want to have s*x ith

and  another guys near thier shop try to sold u smthing or they push u to sit in one Coffeshop to drink or eat smthing

ANyway try that u dun intrested and  DUnt look for them if u r not intrested andif someone say hello for you and u r not intrested then Dun Reply him this way he say bye

The weather will be great my friends returned just yesterday with a FABULOUS tan i'm envyous.

They said it was great except something was going off over there where quite a few peoples drinks were being spiked so just be careful I guess that you do not leave you're drinks to avoid this. My friend was spiked and ended up spending the night in an egyption hospital, not fun! Also, they mentioned something about quad biking in the desert at night being dangerous (local stories they heard)..

and haggling - when buying stuff make sure you haggle as they try to make a profit for themselves sometimes a HUGE profit. lol.

very cheap though and she said another bit of advice - Mcdonalds burgers in egypt are awful!

So be warned! lol

Congratulations on your choice for spending your vacation in Sharm el Sheikh. All who visit it go back again.

Take cotton Tshirts and cotton loose skirts. That is the best thing to wear at this time of the year. Take comfortable sandals or shoes of real leather.

People there are friendly. Make sure to drink bottled water and brush your teeth with it. Any cooked food is not to be worried about. Green salad is what you should be careful with.

Hey there, you have lots of answers here, some with good advice some with silly assumptions.

Its really hot here @the moment so make sure you drink lots of bottled water, have lots of light weight clothes & sandels. Lots of waterproof high factor sunscream&after suncream,hat,sunglasses & a camera/camcorder.

If you into diving or snorkelling you will feel rite at home, you can book through the hotel, for diving make sure they have a PADI certificate.

There are banks, exchanges & ATM machines where you can change your money averages 10-10.05le to £!.

Taxi drivers & shop keepers imagine tourist are very rich&generally expect you to pay over the odds for everything. Haggle with everything til u get the price that suits.

Hotel staff like to be tipped coz they are paid such low wages, a few Egyptian £s will be appreaciated by waiters, bar staff, bell boys & pool boys-for 5le a day they will make you feel like royalty.
