I'm visiting my family, but I still want to know general things...common facts, things not to say, curse words that are okay and those that aren't...anything, really.

  1. I wouldn't want to spoil your family's fun ... they'll have a great time teaching you, and possibly laughing if you do something silly ... just join in the fun and enjoy the joke if that happens, don't take offence ... it's what memories are made of

  2. You'll have a great time!  It's not that different from the US.  Everybody is really friendly and the food is great, and both countries are beautiful.  Just remember to bring your camera, extra batteries for it, and an extra chip if it's digital, you don't want to run out of space to take lots of pictures!

  3. are you american? ill assume so...

erm, well i have heard that in america you say "f***y" and it isnt rude. in the uk it is pretty rude. it refers to lady-parts. probably not one to say to granny!

also pants  = underwear here. you wear trousers on the outside. i think you say "sidewalk" when its a pavement.

we brits are excellent at queueing. learn how to queue well.

depending on where you go in ireland its probably best not to discuss religion.

i think most swear words would be the same.

    have fun!

  4. i'd want to know the best attractions to visit....and their culture

  5. If you're coming from the States it's not even worth worrying - essentially it's the same culture and the same people; we do get American tv you know :) Apart from the different road direction you can't really go wrong.

  6. just be your self We are a very friendly country where you are allowed to do and say what you like .Just enjoy yourself and take back happy memories. We are a multi cultural country where you live and let live.

  7. england is full of teenage hooligans who will kick your head like a football because they are bored,  and drunk hooligans who can't take their drink and think it's normal to get into fights with strangers every night
