I'm 17, and I wont be 18 until July. I'm going to England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. Can I buy beer in all those places? What's the best beer to get in each? I like beer, but the most foreign I've gotten is a Heinekin.

  1. EF that bull go to italy and then to Holland!!!   trust me youl have a better time and get laid over and over and over and over... bring your camera or camcorder good sites tooo!!!

  2. wtf - england & ireland have some of the best beer in the world! But don't be tempted to stick to the lagers - they are low on the scale of fine beer.

If you are used to drinking only lager style beer (like heineken and most US beer) it might take awhile to get a liking for the different styles, but when you do, you won't turn back to lager - trust me!

Alot of British beer (the good stuff) is flatter than lager (not as fizzy) but packed with flavour. It is usually served a bit warmer than lager style - and that takes a bit of getting used to - but produces a real creamy 'head' - which lasts right down to the bottom of the glass. I'm from Australia - most of the mainstream beer here is lager style - served very cold and easy to throw back fast on a hot day - which is most days! - but not much to appreciate.

The British climate is ideal for the beer they produce - I could go on and on but I won't. Try as many different beers as you can - (but in moderation of course!). And the british pub scene is like nothing you will ever have encountered!

Just writing about it makes me feel like hopping on a plane!

    Have a fantastic trip!

Edit: If you are underage you an always go into a pub with someone who is drinking age - not a big prob in most parts of UK

  3. Yes, you can drink a beer in all UK (NB. only Northern Ireland is in the UK, along with England, Scotland and Wales; I'm not too sure about the law in the Republic of Ireland) pubs when you are 16 as long as you are sitting down to have a meal with it.  Otherwise, you will technically be underage until you turn 18, but it probably won't be impossible to get served as a lot of pubs really aren't that strict.
