  1. i just came back..watch out for pocket pickers if your going to any big city

  2. Learn some German! People are a lot more willing to help you if they know you are making an effort

However, if you're with people, don't pretend that the people around you can't understand English, so don't ***** about bad service or anything.

Don't be unsettled by the fact people can bring their dogs pretty much everywhere. Dogs in a 18th century palace? Hmm.. ok!

Have fun! It's a beautiful country. Just be on the smart in public places, with your bag and stuff, basically the same as what you would be at home. I never felt unsafe while there though!

  3. If you're going to any big cities, (which I'm assuming you are, at least the airport) be wary of pickpockets, keep bags close, etc. Common sense things. Just like big cities anywhere in the world; where there are people, there are people exploiting them. Nonetheless, I have felt safer here (while in places like Munich and Frankfurt) than in San Francisco, Chicago, Dallas, or Paris. Most speak excellent English, and tend to be very polite if they don't, helping you find someone who does. This is a relief, as many foreigners can be hostile if you don't know their language.

If you speak German, all the better! Remember, cyclists and pedestrians have a definite right-of-way. Don't stand balking at an intersection, waiting for a car to go.

  4. Learn basic german...if you are going to stay bit longer.....it would be really helpful!!

  5. @BozoC: Germany is NOT a town BUT a country!

@the person who asked: Please be more specific.

Where do you plan to go? Any interests? After you updated your question we might be able to help you better.

  7. Warning: Don't tell us that you are a fan of Bush.

Just kidding! Its safer than in the U.S. but be careful especially if you use a crowded metro there could be cannons.

    Have a nice time here.
