  2. If you like places off the beaten path, try Cong, it's near Galway. Cong is a small town, only a couple restaurants and pubs, but it has a beautiful abbey ruin, and an expansive forest. It's quiet, not a lot of tourism. But it's my favorite town to visit whenever I go to Ireland. It was also where they filmed "The Quiet Man".

  3. Well, wherever you go in Ireland, you'll find pubs, so that's not a problem. It all depends on what you like to do. Although Ireland is small, it never feels crowded - it is easy to get away from people in a small village or fishing town - buses are pretty good. If you like walking, why not go down to the South West coast and base yourself near Dingle and do some of the  walks out there or maybe cycle if you're active. You can take day tours or just mooch around small villages and go for walks on  desolate beaches.
