I'm going to Mars... any thoughts about that? (previously posted in space exploration by mistake)?

Question

Love is not the moon

Love is not the stars

Love is not the sky above

Love is found on Mars.

All the great poets

have traveled...

to places where

love cannot be found.

Never once did they

find love in space

but a few found

it in their mind.

I read their biographys

I read their works too

always looking for answers

but they never found the truth.

They believed love

to be forever

because they kept

looking in the wrong place.

If you take time

to learn and listen

I will try and

set you straight.

Love thrives with honesty

Love thrives with truth

Love needs communication,

compassion, and passion too.

Climb aboard my shuttle

and I'll take you to Mars

where words are not left empty

they're filled with chocolate bars.

Reference to "empty words" is not related to the great poets of the past, it's the realization that they have become cliches to those that would only cover the surface of ground thats been walked over too many times.

You might want to shorten it. I believe you could compress this piece and come up with more. I really liked it, especially the chocolate bars.
