  1. You're mostly going to be staying in a very Americanized hotel in a touristic beach city. Unless you're interested in travelling on bus around the surrounding towns by day you probably won't need any suggestions. Just have your passports at hand when you enter the country and such. They will be giving you a paper form on the plane to fill out (mostly asking why you're in Mexico and for how long, ordinary stuff) which can be filled out in english.

Ask your local bank if you can use your debit card here. A lot of US banks allow that but can charge a bit of a fee so it's best to retire a decent amount of cash in one haul than getting petty cash a dozen times.

The recent devaluation of the dollar has made the conversion rate very close to 10.20 mexican pesos per dollar. Just 1 year ago the rate was over 11 pesos.

  2. Gata gives good advice as usual

Tips for a foriegn country - It's mini America so you'll fit in fine.Take time to explore Mexico - Taxi , bus, rental car. Do A day trip or something. Its a great country and I always ask people to get awat from the tourism and see the country as a local

Debit cards - Fee tacked on all transactions. Try withdrawing here and Western Union the cash to yourself, when you land go to any Western Union and withdrawel - it will be given @ current exchange rate and in pesos.

I was out this morning here in Acapulco and the banks sign said - 10.16 was thier exchange rate.
