  1. Beaches, beaches, beaches! there is a seven mile beach there it is crazy. You are going to a beautiful fun filled party town. That is what Negril is know for.

  2. Bring your digital camera, bathing suit, swim in one of the world finest beaches. You will see lovely flowers and fruit trees, you will meet friendly people. But watch your spending habit, you will need coppertone for sun tan.

  3. There is plenty to do or nothing at all.. I love taking a glass bottom boat out, go snorkeling then head up by boat to Ricks.. But you may enjoy going out on a sunset cruise on Wild Thing being your first time there.. It's a catamaran cruise that goes up to Ricks.. Has drinks included in the price.. If you are daring enough you can jump from the 35 foot platform.. I'll stick to the 12 ft platform, lol.. It's a lot of fun..

At night there are plenty of bars up the beach that have live reggae.. Thursday night is ladies night at The Jungle. The Jungle is Negril's disco.. Plays hip hop.

Check out Mayfield Falls also.. It's really pretty, both the drive up and when you climb the falls. It's about an hour away from Negril.. Well worth it.

    Check out

Go and have a great time..

Just use your common sense like you were visiting any city.

  4. About Negril

Negril is located in Western Jamaica and extends from the nineteenth-century Negril Lighthouse at Negril Point in the parish of Westmoreland, to Bloody Bay in the Parish of Hanover.

The combination of dramatic rugged cliffs on the West End and miles of pristine white sand beach with crystal clear water can be found nowhere else on the island. Neither is there anywhere in Jamaica that’s as laid back. Negril is dubbed the “Capital of Casual” as Negrilians carry out business and pleasure efficiently with the least amount of formality. The first visitors to Negril in large numbers were hippies and this helped to create its carefree atmosphere and now Negril is still the ideal place to meet and make friends with Jamaicans. Visitors to Negril feel little restriction and can relax completely on this piece of heaven on earth.

Aside from the seemingly endless stunning beach and the azure waters off the West End, Negril has many great restaurants and an active night life. There are many interesting tours offered to places outside of Negril, so there is no shortage of things to do. Negril offers a wide variety of places to stay to match any budget. From high end All Inclusives, to hip boutique hotels to small affordable rooms and cottages.

Most visitors to Negril return time and time again and it’s no surprise. Nowhere on Earth has that combination of world famous sunsets, great Jamaican hospitality and that special Negril vibe....

    [edit] Negril Today

For years, Negril's has been rated as one of the top ten beaches in the world by many travel magazines. The north end of the beach is home to the large, all-inclusive resorts, and to the south are the smaller, family-run hotels. This combination gives the Negril area a large variety of rooms, services and prices. South of downtown Negril is West End Road, known as the cliff area, which is lined with resorts that offer more privacy. These areas offer easy access to waters good for snorkeling and diving, with jumping points reaching more than 40 feet high. Rick's Cafe is a place to watch the cliff jumpers, although there have been a number of fatalities and serious injuries with regard to visitors attempting even the lower level jumps (rock impacts, paralysis/quadriplegia, ear drum impaction etc..) Rick's is considered one of the 1,000 places to go before you die.

That Negril is still fairly underdeveloped remains a significant factor in its undoubted charm. This may not last, as a new highway from Montego Bay and an improved infrastructure may bring more tourists. In recent years it has also become a popular location for U.S. college students to visit during spring break.

The last few years have seen major development along the famed "Seven Mile Beach." The resorts include Couples Negril, Sandals, Beaches, Grand Lido and Hedonism II. A branch of Jimmy Buffett's chain restaurant and bar, Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville, and a duty free zone have also been added. These developments have led to adverse environmental effects e.g. dredging of sea grass beds caused the major loss of beach area due to increased sea water erosion.

    My Advise

    Go to Booby Cay

    Negril Scuba Center

  5. Wear a skimpy little bikini.  Drink lots of Red Stripe.  Visit Rick's Cafe/jumping off the cliff is optional.  Use lots of suntan lotion, especially is half or more of your bikini comes off and those parts haven't seen the sun before.  Relax on the beach.  Enjoy jerk chicken at a local (not tourist) spot.  Get off the resort (if you are on one) and meet the locals.  Enjoy and don't worry about what to do and see.
