  1. I'd drive over to the beach, if it was me. There should be less conges-

tion there now, as temps have been cooler. But they are warming up

again in a couple of days. Cannon Beach is my favorite location for

seeing the ocean, and browsing the shops. Having fresh taffy and other

goodies. Especially a cone with ice cream from the Tillamook dairy.

South on the coast at Lincoln City is a casino where people like to go

to try their luck while down there. Not everyone's a loser. There's an

outlet owned and operated by the indians that live down there. You

can buy fresh fish, especially smoked salmon that is so delicious. You

can sample a bit of it to see if you like it too.

And there's nothing like walking the beach with a bag of day old

bread and tossing it to seagulls. They swoop down and entertain you

trying to get bread away from other seagulls. And of course, there's

always people watching. Dogs are allowed and people do take them

and play Frisbee or toss balls for them. And you can buy a kite at one

of the kite shops and have fun with getting a kite to stay up and follow

    the breeze.

Further south on the coast, is Florence, and it's known for its' sea

lion caves. You take an elevator down to the ocean level and see them

playing and barking and having the best time. There is an echo in the

caves, so it seems like you're hearing in stereo.  There's also a great

marine life aquarium north of Florence that is named after former

Senator Mark Hatfield. It is unusual, in that you walk along inside a

glass enclosure and see the marine life in the ocean. I hear it's really

wonderful to see so many creatures so close. But it wouldn't be the

thing for someone claustrophobic, like me.

The big city of Portland, doesn't have any real major attractions that

can't be found in most cities its' size. But the greenery up here is

something you don't see everywhere either. People come up here for

the outdoors and outdoor activities. Forests with trails for hiking and

camping. Waterfalls, and rivers to raft in. Mt Hood and Mt Bachelor

for skiing when there's snow. Bend, Oregon for fresh mountain air,

and shopping or touring art galleries and eating at a number of good

    restaurants.

If you are coming up from the southern border, stop at the natural

vortex at Gold HIl, Oregon. I can't remember which side of Medford it

is. But it's a must to experience. That little acre or less of land has a

magnetic field that scientists have yet to fully explain. You will find

demonstrations with things defying gravity. And it's fun to see and

    experience.

Come on up and have a good time.

  2. For a real p-town experience go to 1. voodoo doughnuts, is an experience in its self. Right now Saturday market is closed but that’s a super summer thing. Jakes grill is amazing. Or for something a lot less main stream try the roxy for a bite to eat. The Avalon/wonderland theater is cheep movies and 5 cent arcade games. The rocky horror picture shows every Saturday at 12 in the Clinton street theater. And the fox tower is more sophisticated. There is also the Keller auditorium holds great shows and if your short on money the fountains across the street are amazing. Also givin the blazers recent winning streak the rose garden lexus level seats are super, free food and all. And just around the corner from that is an indoor paint ball arena. Theres also plenty of clubs, under and over age. Under- the zone and over my friends say barracuda is super. And if you are looking for something a little more scenic try the Columbia river gorge or Multnomah falls. And last but not least if your looking for something quirky and small try Multnomah village or hillsdale. They are cute little old main street types of things with small stores and good eats. In Multnomah try the fat city café. It really all depends on what you are looking for and what time, budget and age. But of all places ive been I love Portland the most. Its amazing just wandering around down town you can find the greatest stuff.

  3. The Oregon Gardens are beautiful.  Multnomah falls.  Mount Hood.  Downtown Portland.  http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g...

  5. Depending on when you're coming, there's the Oregon State fair up from August 22nd until September 1st. Have fun!
