  1. I would go for the apartment, you can have more independence. However, you need to be a little bit more "pro-active", too, as there will be no staff to ask your way around.

It will also depend on the location of the apartment. We only have 2 metro lines in Rome (A and B), which serve the metropolitan area and is still the faster way to move around. Then there are local trains, from Rome to Ostia (the coastal area) and around, and buses, but they are mostly unreliable and rare. So, the best is to be within short walking distance from a metro station. Then you can go to the centre and walk around from there.

  2. If you've already rented an apartment, it's a little late to ask, isn't it? And of course the answer would depend on how much you're paying, and whether you need an apartment so you can do your own cooking, etc. Only you can answer this question.

  3. The only way to do this is to have a look at what compares to what you have committed to.

Use this site to sort the options by location, star rating price, last minute or year round. The nlook at the descriptions, images and free inclusions in the last minute offers.

It's possible you could do better, but there's a lot of subjective things in your question:

    Rome:http://wwww.cheaperthanhotels.com/Italy/...

    Italian Version:Rome:http://wwww.hotelsitaliano.com/Italy/Rom...

  4. It depends.. how long do you stay? and where the apartment is at? Rome is a big city... have a nice holiday in my city! :D

  5. well now I live in italy and have visited rome. from what I know... the hotels charge allot and offer little!! the apartment you rented would beter suit an american(guessing that you are one). I had to pay over 90 euro(over a hundred dollars) a night for a room that was not at all up to "par". however I rented an apartment for 400 euro a month that was amazing!! It might differ for you! Good luck!
