I'm going to Rome and Pompeii in April next year and maybe Greece if we have time. What are some tips? Should I buy language books....learn more about the culture?

  1. They all speak english. Just take lots of cash & condoms

  2. I just came back from a trip to Italy, check out the

www.tripadvisor.com site for good spots to eat/visit, talks about culture etc...

You will love Italy, it is beautiful, and people are very friendly.

  3. Herculaneum is the same as Pompeii but much less touristic - go there instead. Railway station on its doorstep so travel is easy

  4. yeah, heres a tip for you...TAKE ME WITH YOU!

  5. lol.. dont worry, in rome a lot of people speak english. It may not be great, but its understandable. Trust me im italian. In rome i suggest you go to the vatican, colloseum, trastevere, piazza de spagna, piazza navona, via del corso, and fontana di trevi. Have fun !!

Tip: Buy the Rome Transportation Map at a newsstand or tourist shop. I've found it to be the best map and if you want to take a bus or the metro, it will be very useful. You might also want to buy a Rome Pass or Discount Card to use on transportation and admissions.

And dont worry the public transportation is safe and way better than taking a taxi.

And if you go to a museum or anything be sure to get a guide.

    Good Luck !!

  6. I was pick-pocketed in Rome so dont put anything valuable (especially not your passport!) in your bag. Dont want to freak you out but it does happen and its awful. Be especially careful if you go through Rome Termini station. Other than that eat the pasta and gelati - amazing!!
