I'm going to Rome from the 6'th to the 10th.. any links.. or info on things to do ?

I'm also going with my 14 year old son, and I'll need to keep him interested.. im staying in the eurostars international palace.. any info/links? thanks!

One other thing to note:  August 15th is a holiday in Italy.  As I recall it's called "Ferro Augusto" or Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.  Anyway, half of the country takes vacation the 2 weeks prior and the other half takes vacation the 2 weeks after - at least it seems this way.  August is vacation month for most of the country.  Be prepared for lots of heat and, in Rome, you may find venues closed as proprietors head for the mountains or water.  Major sights should be open though.

One cool thing to consider.  There's a church at the bottom of Via Vittorio Veneto, just off Piazza Barberini, and for a small donation you can enter the crypt that's decorated with human bones.  That might entertain a 14 year old.  A few years ago, there was also an Internet cafe on the same Piazza that he may want to use for a bit.

We were in Rome in May.  We visited Trevi Fountain, the Colliseum, the Roman Forum and St. Peter's Bascillica.  We were there on a Sunday and were unable to go to the Vatican museum and Cistene Chapel as they were closed.  When at St. Peter's Bascillica, women/girls must keep their shoulders covered and males/females must wear pants, or shorts/skirts, at or below the knees. They won't allow sleeveless shirts.

Hi,,,,, While in Rome,, visit the colosseum and foyer, the Vatacan,, go Early to the Systine Chapel,, the lines are long and wear comfortable shoes...

When in Rome,, beware of the Pick Pockets,,, they are Very Good at their trade.......i kid you not !!

  take your son to the Hard Rock Cafe and let him get a shirt or what ever there.. he will appreciate it...
