  1. You can't go wrong with the food and also the red wine. If you go to the main square and there is a bandstand in the middle you will find  a cobbled street which runs off it and it is full of Tapas Bars and they are brilliant. The tapas is fantastic and not what you find in the UK its a work of art. and also near the beach are various restaurant that serve fish and also steaks which are to die for and as you can tell I spent 3 months touring Spain and spent a lot of time in San Sebastian as I love it so much ,

But please don't tell anyone how brilliant it is with great food, shopping and beaches as we don't want everyone to know so its a secret!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. San Sebastian in general has some of the best cuisine in the world -- the food is excellent in general, food is an obsession there. Many great restaurants are in the Parte Vieja and ,  that is the best place to go from bar to bar for pintxos (tapas in Basque)  and drinks -- you can follow the groups of men from the eating clubs around to find best places -- but anyplace in the City is going to have good food. . I haven't been there since 2001 but some of the top restaurants at the time were Akelarre $$$$, Arzak $$$, Panier Fleuri $$$ Nicolasa, Urepel $$, Rekondo $$, Casa Tiburcio $, Ttun Ttun Taberna $-- Some of these places are booked months in advance so you might not be able to get into the very best ones

The food in San Sebastian is in a league of it's own you are in for the best food you have ever tasted I'm jealous..

  4. San Sebastian's picturesque coastline makes it a popular beach resort. San Sebastian is a attractive resort and makes an ideal base from which to explore the Basque Country. See http://www.spain4uk.co.uk/places/san_seb... for more details
