  1. Not exactly festivals as such, but heres whats on in Andalucia when you're going to be there. Might or might not interest you, but here it is anyway.

Until 2 nd June 2006…………In Mijas. Dates in which those wishing to enter the town’s 8 th Watercolour painting competition should enter their works to the Folk Museum in Plaza Libertad 2, near the Plaza Virgen de la Peña, weekdays from 8 to 14. The competition is open to all artists resident in Mijas on the theme of Mijas and its surroundings. The works chosen by the judges will be on show n the art gallery in the Folk Museum from 16 th June to 17 th July. There is a first prize of 900 euros and a second prize of 600 euros which will be presented to the winners on the 16 th June at the opening of the exhibition.

More information is available from the Mijas Culture Department in the Folk Museum in Mijas village or phone 952 590 380.

Until 3 rd June 2006……….In Estepona. An exhibition of paintings by the Mujeres de las Artes Association is on show in the art gallery in the Culture Centre. The show features the best works by artists from the AIMA Association of Madrid and can be visited daily from 10.00 to 14.00 and 17.00 to 21.00. More information is available from the local Tourist Office on 952 802 002 or e-mail: turismo@infoestepona.com

Until 4 th June 2006……….In Benalmadena Costa. An exhibition of paintings by Palmira Abello and sculptures by H. Reed Armstrong is on show in the Exhibition Centre in Avenida Antonio Machado 33. 20 paintings and 20 sculptures are on show by these artists who got to know one another in Benalmadena more than 40 years ago. The exhibition is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10.30 to 13.30 and from 16.30 to 20 and on Sundays and holidays from 11 to 13.30.

Until 5 th June 2006 (first week in June each year) …………In Puerto Real, Cadiz. The town celebrates its Spring Fair in the Parque de la Canteras. This is one of the oldest Ferias in Andalucia, dating back to 1843. It owes its origins to a livestock Fair, but is now full of Casetas and entertainment.
