I'm going to a 3 week summer camp and have a couple questions...?

This is a sort of precollege camp for high school students but is EXTREMELY expenisve and has tons of extras like going to concerts, amusement parks, museums, campus tours, etc.. This will be my first time at a summer camp and my first time away from my parents and home for more than 1 or 2 nights, so I'm just a little nervous.

Is 3 weeks long enough to develop close friendships with the other people in the camp?

Will it be difficult to be away from home that long?

What can I do to help me prepare before I go, and while I'm there for homesickness?

Is there anything I can do to help make friends at camp and fit in better?

Any other hints or advice???

Thanks!!

  1. Wow, that sounds like so much fun! Totally enough time to make some close friends. Just be yourself and friendly to other people. People just naturally become friends when doing fun stuff together.

I think as long as you are enjoying yourself and having fun you won't be homesick. I'm sure there will be phones there, so just call them once in awhile and you should be fine. No way to prepare other than just making sure you have everything you need when packing your suitcase. Have fun!

  2. Honestly dont stress about it! its so easy to make friends at summer camp since everyone is in the same place as you, and no one wants to spend 3 weeks friendless! So just make sure you are very open to new people and im sure you will have a great time! Theres really nothing you can do to prepare you for camp, but it really isnt a big deal as long as your openminded i'm sure you will learn alot and come out with a lot of great new friends
