I'm going to a great daycare to apply for a job as an assistant but I'm nervous? help?

I have my resume ready and everything but I'm so nervous. I don't want to just email them the resume because a lot of people want this position. So i want to go there and talk to them. I think I'll do a really good job and I'm enrolling in an early childhood education college soon. I love kids and I'll work hard. But I'm so nervous. I can't force myself to go.....

I felt the exact same way when I applied for a teacher assistant job a month ago.  I think this is a natural feeling when applying for a new job.  I finally got the courage to email my resume in and i got the interview and the job.  Just have confidence in yourself and try not to worry about the others who apply.  Concentrate on you and why you are applying. Don't just say I love kids.  Say how much you enjoy helping children learn.  Tell the director that you have some great ideas for fun learning activities for young children, and that you intend to pursue an education in this field, but nothing is better than experience when it comes to working with children and you would love an opportunity to work at her center because it has a great reputation so you feel you will learn a lot there.  Think about some activities for young children, because she will probably ask you to tell her some of your ideas.  Be positive and enthusiastic.  Smile, and promise that if given this opportunity, you will do your best to make sure that both you and the children in your care will benefit from the experience.

Just do it!!!  I am assistant director of a daycare/preschool!!!!  Once you get there (if it is the right place for you) you will know and the nerves will disapear!!!!  Good Luck

it's a childcare centre, it should be welcoming and encouraging for all who enter -- including you!

having your senior first aid certificate and blue card will also help :)
