I'm going to my first open mic for a poetry slam. Can any of you give me any tips or advice? Thanks!

  1. Perform pieces you know well and are comfortable with.  If you're likely to be nervous about reading/performing in public, then trying out a new poem you've never read in public before may not be a great idea.
