a model vocano... the erruption will be caused by pressure in the volcano... any idea on what substances i should use to make the "magma" gasses expand, or just the magma to expand, making the volcano go "boom" ?

well, idk if this helps, but in 6th grade i built a rocket using a film canister, baking soda and vinegar, and  mixed the vinegar and baking soda together in the canister, put the cap on, and set it on the ground on the cap, the chemicals would launch the canister into the air it was rly cool, so baking soda and viegar cause pressure when mixed, so if you can somehow work that onto your volcano that would be cool

Make the volcano out of ceramic slurry, and install a kiln with a strong heating element. Add iron or some other metal to the kiln to melt. The result: the most realistic, awesome, and dangerous model volcano ever. For fun, pump gas through the mixture for explosive effects.

Vinegar, baking soda, and red or orange food coloring. It's also cool to add little chunks of clay or rocks to add effect. I rigged for my brother so that when I added the baking soda through a straw tube, it would react with the vinegar causing it to expand and fizz, thus, creating pressure to cause a needle stuck to a piece of clay to pop a small balloon.
