  1. I'll be a freshman this year too =) but i'm not worried at all, high school will be a breeze.just don't worry about it

  2. try to get a map before the first day of school. know where the wings are [english wing, math hallway...ect.]

if you get the list of class rooms then map out where you are going :) so you'll know the best routes to take.

buy your basic school supplies beforehand [a binder, folder, notebook/paper,pens,pencils,backpack] before hand that way all you'll have to buy after the first day is the necessities for each class.

don't worry about being harassed by upperclassman on the first day. i was a freshman last year and nothing happened to me OR anyone i knew.

just remember: you were in middle school at one time with the juniors and sophmores (when you were in 6th grade!) and the seniors really keep to themselves. dont be nervous-highschool is a time to have fun and be with your friends!

  3. don't trip.

high school is not super hard. you need what you needed in 8th grade.

If you're going to honors classes some might require that you develop new study skills if they're not too good already.

You're teachers will tell you the only thing different you should carry is your student id.

  4. for high school, this is some of what i have to say...

for supplies and stuff, just get the normal stuff, and if you need more they'll tell you. first day if you get to school a while before school starts find your classes, and your locker(if your school has em) and figure out the best routine to get around.

and other than that which is pretty easy to figure out...

    START THINKING ABOUT COLLEGE NOW!!!

do all your work get a job(get what you can, i couldn't work for a business here til i was 16) save money, this is the very beginning of your future, and if you don't prepare now you could end up like me, or even worse my brother.

i have been cut of in every post-HS thing i have tried, and it's because i did nothing extra, made almost no friends, and took HS for granted the first two years, and moving five times probably didn't help, but... oh, stay at one school too, two at the most and never move in the middle of the school year.

start thinking of what you MAY want to do now, a lot of people choose thier future career off of wanting to help people, and trust me it is not bad idea. after you do that start looking for colleges. http://www.collegeboard.com/ is very useful for this. i found almost all of mine this way.

try not to spend too much money on frivolous things. if you do you'll just end up having $6.43 in your bank account. i know if you have US bank, you can get a joint account with you parent(s), and if you have a job, you can get a debit card(instead of an ATM card), and if you get one, make sure you keep track of your spending and how much you have in your account

Do community service, looks great on a college app. and if you live in Cali, go here

it runs every year i think. and lastly, ask your counselor if your school has a class called AVID it seems dumb, but it did help when i was in it, and it looks good on a college app too.

if you need any help, e-mail me.

oh, i forgot the most important thing. Make friends and have fun, join clubs don't let it get too serious. because if you do when graduation gets close, it'll hit you hard.

don't curse too much either, freshmen sound ridiculous when they do it.

kid, please don't end up like me or my brother. he went to college for four years and is only a sophmore. he only took gym classes and played football, now he is out of work and very poor, he still has a chance, but i am not sure if he'll take it.

  5. i'm going 2 be a freshman and what i did to prepare was nada! i did the sprak notes 4 summer reading bought the books and school suplies, but other than that I haven't been doing anything, just enjoying my last fw breaths of being free...

  6. Freshman in college or freshman in high school?

If it's high school, than you just need the normal stuff.

If it's college, then you'll need a bit more.

Here are some sites that have suggestions:

Other than the things listed, don't forget comfortable pillows and pictures from home.  And, if you have a roommate, then you can talk about what things you'll chip in to buy, or maybe he/she will buy somethings and you'll buy others. When I went, my roommates always brought the rug and microwave and I had the fridge, TV and fan.

    Good luck!

  7. call the school and see if you can get a tour of it. on the first day go to the office and ask for a map. just bring a notebook and a pen the first day and if you have math maybe bring a calculator.
