I want to do voice overs for cartoons and I have no experience so I was wondering what kind of questions they ask u in the interview. Also, does it matter what I wear? Like, can I wear jeans and a shirt? I dont want acting as a career, just for fun.

  1. Well, if you want to do voice overs, you'll need a demo. The agency won't be able to submit you for jobs without a demo tape.

Dress nicely. Even though you may not want to do this as a career, you're still interviewing for a job, so dress and act professionally. Once you book jobs, you can go to the studio wearing whatever you want, but impressions count and it's always nice to see someone who looks like they've made an effort for you.

As for the interview - it's not an interview in the traditional sense where they ask you to remember a time you had to solve a problem or what your strengths/weaknesses are. They want to see if you can perfom. For acting, this usually means a monologue and possibly some sides of commercial script or excerts from a sitcom/soap opera or movie. For voiceovers, they would probably have you read scripts that are used for that kind of work. Depending on where you are, most likely this will be commercials, unless you live in an area that has a studio that produces cartoons.

If you were able to get an interview without any experience, I'm guessing you live in a smaller market. This means there will be less competition, but also fewer opportunities. Just go in with an open mind, tell them what your goals are, show them what you can do (obviously you need a great speaking voice and if you want to do cartoons, the ability to create additional voices, which you will probably have to show), and ask them what your next steps should be. They may be able to recommend some classes or teachers and places to have a demo done.

Do be aware of scams though. If you're a minor, you must bring along a parent. Don't sign anything without reading it. Be wary if they call themselves an agency, but try to push some in house classes or photographer on you (this is different from recommending some, btw). You should never pay for agent, they get paid when you get paid, so if they ask for any money that's a huge red flag.

    Other than that, good luck!

  2. Hii there! :)

    Great question, hope this helps...<33

Some questions they might ask you:

*"What previous experience do you have?"

    *Questions about your training

    Things they might tell you:

*We are looking for specific people...for modeling you need white teeth, you have to be over 5'6, and you have to be a certain weight.

Just research the agency before you go, remember: THERE ARE ALOT OF SCAMS, NO REAL AGENCY WOULD ASK YOU FOR MONEY.

    Tips:

    Be confident

    Smile

make sure to keep brushing those pearly whites!

    Answer truthfully

I hope that helped! GOOD LUCKK!
