I'm going to be moving out of my parents house. And i wanted to get an idea on what type of bills I should expect to pay, and if possible and estimated amount. And how often they get paid (monthly, every 6 months, etc.) This is going to be the first time I'm going to be out on my own so I'm a little nervous

  1. Depends on where you live. Are any utilities included in your rent? You need a telephone, cable tv, internet, electricity, gas/oil for heat and hot water as the absolute basics. Figure $50 for phone, $40 for internet, $35 for basic cable, electricity could be $100 or more, oil I won't even guess at.  Don't forget rent, clothing, food, laundry, car payments and insurance....daunting isn't it? Welcome to the real world.

  2. You'll pay rent monthly, all utilities monthly (electric, gas if you have it, water, phone, cable).  On top of this you'll have all your living expenses (duh) - food, clothes, entertainment, health insurance and bills; but the costs for all this varies and depends on you. I can't think of any expenses you would not pay monthly (besides stuff like the dentist and insurance - car and renters) though once you buy a place there will be some stuff.  Also, you will have to pay a deposit and some others fees to set everything up.

As to the amount of all these costs they vary wildly depending on your lifestyle and where you live, so no way anyone can estimate those.
