I currently live in Jersey City and I'm going to be moving soon (in a month) and rather than trying to sell some of my stuff, I want to donate it to a non-profit organization. If anyone can provide me with information of different organizations that will pick up things from your apartment, I will appreciate it.

I already tried Salvation Army and they are backed up for pick up uptil March end. I am moving out at the end of February and would like to donate all my stuff before then.

  1. Also see if there is a FreeCycle in your area. Use Google to find out.

  2. give it to goodwill

  3. St. Vinvent de Paul, Goodwill, Habitat for Humanity also takes furniture.  I don't know if you have the National Kidney Foundation there, but they also pick up large items.

Thank you for thinking of others, it is very kind of you.

  4. Try calling the First Call For Help phone line. Use a landline phone and dial 2-1-1. This referral service should have information about who can pick up donated furniture.

You could also try searching the Hudson County United Way Human Services list:

    http://www.unitedwayofhc.org/FirstCall_2...

  5. Try Good Will, VFW, Paralyzed Veterans, your local shelter, there are a lot of places.

  6. Try Goodwill or Salvation Army as both places will make sure people who need these things most will receive them. Good for you as you set a great example.
