  1. The sun here is very intense...we are close to the Equator.

If you plan on going snorkeling a bio-degradable sunscreen is a "must". There are many manufacturers.

You can also order online a biodegradable product made here in the Yucatan and pick it up here when you arrive.

    Hope this helps!

  2. SPF 45 is good but make sure its waterproof and apply often.

  3. If you are fair skinned, start off with the highest SPF you can find. I have a olive complexion and I used 30 SPF and I still got a bit burned. Keep applying after swimming, apply if you are out walking around and absolutely apply  generously if on a boat excursion.

The sun is very hot. As you tan, you can use a lower SPF.

Have a great time. Oh, and wear a hat and sunglasses. It's lousy to get a sunburn on your head or wake up with puffy eyes. Enjoy)

  4. If your fair skinned or tanning make sure your lotion has UVA/UVB and apply often. Obviously, for fair skin, the 50 to 85 spf is best, but I think that what's most important is reapplication and ... tan before you go. I know tanning beds are not the in thing right now, but you should condition your skin to sun.

  5. If you're prone to burn (fair skinned) use 45--and don't worry, you'll still get a great tan!
