I'm going to college in the fall, any preppy dorm decorating ideas?

I hate using the word preppy because its so cliche now a days, but for lack of a better word, i'm searching for preppy accessories to decorate my dorm room. by preppy i mean pink and green, lilly pulitzer, grosgrain ribbon, etc. I bought my sheets already and they are green seersucker with pink flamingos by tommy hilfiger. so if you have any ideas along those lines, they would be a huge help. (im also thinking about incorporating navy blue into the room so its not strictly pink and green) thanks.

Keep mixing it up.  It should look vintage not newly purchased, and your bed should have a lot of layers.  Blue denim for your comforter is a good choice - beds are used as sofas in dorm rooms, so durability and washability are important - and this works with your look.

Put function first.  If you play tennis, hang your racket and not a poster.  Skate?  Ski?  Bike?  These can all be decorative as well as funtional.  However do not hang them if you do not use them.  Can you hang a shelf with wooden pegs below as a clothing rack?  Tie ribbons or a scarf on one of the pegs in a color that compliments your selections.  Frame pictures of your family and friends and have them around.  Consider hanging a quilt on the wall.

Favor wood and leather over plastic or chrome.  A few baskets to hold small personal items on you shelves carries the look - and if you are really into it, line them with a coordinating fabric.  Old leather suitcases make great under bed or top shelf storage. Footlockers make great tables, seating and provide storage.

When I went looking for my dorm room stuff I was looking for something preppy too!

I found out that Target and Bed Bath and Beyond has the best stuff.............
