I'm going to have 4 wisdom teeth removed, and if I use nitrous oxide will i feel any pain ?

will the dentist give me nitrous first, or numb shot?

my bro didn't use nitrous , only numb shot, and he said the numb shots hurt like crazy because the dentist jabs the needle numerous times.

Yep. the gas is just to relax you. As for the needle hurting, it is all in what the dentist is like. My dentist knew I hated needles. He was extremely patient with me and I never even saw the needles. Some dentists ar like smorgasbord dentists. They don't realize What the patient goes through--or doesn't care.

i have 2 get my wisdom teeth out soon .... i'm scared to death ...... however, i've had both nitrous and the "numb shot". i'm like, 100% intolerant of mouth pain, so i'm always a baby about having work done on my teeth, but i would suggest getting both. first the nitrous, then once ur a little more relaxed, the shot. u won't feel the needle go in becuz most dentists first apply a topical gel that numbs a small area of ur gums so u don't even feel the needle going in .... and fyi, if u know the shot is coming, CLOSE YOUR EYES ..... the worst thing u could do to is look at the needle lol.

I'm pretty sure the dentist will give you the nitrous oxide first as the needle is what most people are afraid of. You won't feel a thing, but take painkillers as soon as you get home, it'll help when the numbness starts to wear off.

This is my experience.

The nitrous oxide doesn't do anything for the pain, it is only designed to relax you.  I hated it because it made me feel weird after it had worn off.

Sometimes getting the shot hurts, and sometimes it doesn't, some dentists are better at doing it and don't hit as many nerves with the needle.

Just try to relax.  If you think the nitrous oxide will help, go for it, but don't expect it to help with the pain.

And try to relax throughout the whole procedure.  I got really tense when I had mine out, and my chest muscles started to spasm and I thought I was having a heart attack!  My muscles were more sore afterwards than my mouth.  Keep your whole body relaxed.

get the gas, i remember my health teacher saying that she got the gas. she also said she doesnt know why people get the shot cuz its still going to hurt. So yeah get the gas.
