Not really, I love him. I have followed all the advice given to me. The Vet, friends, YA, and this dog will not p**p outside. I finally did the crate thing and put him in at 10 pm last night. That's more then 24 hours. He won't go p**p. I take him outside every two hours. And give him the "poopydoodle" Nothing. He poops in the house. What am I doing wrong? What? What am I doing wrong?? If he keeps pooping in the house Husband is going to get rid of him.

  1. You're just gonna have to put him on a leash and tote him around the house likes he's on an umbilical cord. Then you can correct him and get him out the door quickly when he tries to p**p. Or take him for a long walk and praise like h**l when he poops in the great outdoors. Or maybe you should try a pet psychic, lol.

  2. Basically, with all housetraining issues the first thing to do is not to give the dog the opportunity to continue to make mistakes. That might mean confining your dog to a kitchen, bathroom or crate that is only as big as the dog is so he can stand, lie down and turn around comfortably.. As well, make sure you have good control of your dog's food and water intake. I'm guessing he eats twice a day, and so I would suggest giving him set watering times four times a day (during which he can have as much water as he wants).

If you make no progress after working hard at crate training and controlling his water intake, then the problem may be that he is truly stressed by something, and that stress causes him to eliminate inside. If that is so, you need to address his anxiety. In this case I would suggest working with a trainer one-on-one.

  3. uh i know how you feel. you have to supervise your dog 100% of the time while its in the house. crating is best but also have you tried a feeding schedule? i feed my puppy at around 9am 2 pm and 7 pm and right after she eats she poops so i know when she has to go. if i cant watch her she is outside and i crate her during the day for about 2 hours.

good luck and i hope helped

  4. How old is the dog? Did the owners prior to you all getting him allow him to use the pee pads in side? cause that could be whats going on partly? not sure though..

  5. When you take him out of the crate to potty, do you play with him while you wait for him to go?

If yes, that could be the problem.  If he gets so excited by playing, he'll ignore the potty needs until it's less exciting.

Try putting him on a leash and standing in one spot.  Cross your arms or put your hands in your pockets and completely ignore him.  Ignore every thing but bathrooming.

Keep repeating a bathroom command.  I use "get busy".  If you constantly say it, and praise him when he does go, eventually he'll go on command.

Make a "potty spot" that's the furthest you can get from your house.  Some dogs have a strong "don't mess where you sleep/play" instinct, which extends their "not a potty" thoughts to the yard.  If you designate a spot, they're more likely to use it.

Go there each time, repeat the above advise.

Make a potty spot in the house.  Cover the chosen area (use the spot he's already going on) with puppy pads.  Praise him for using them.  Gradually, move the "potty" outside.

Keep him on a leash, tied to you all the time.  You can watch him closely and correct him the instant he squats.  Go nuts when you see him going anywhere but the "pottys" you've set up.  Yell, scream, and put him on his potty.  The instant his feet touch the potty, praise him, even if nothing comes out.  He'll get it that good, happy things happen on the pottys.

Use his p**p to mark the pottys.

You're cleaning it up anyway, put it to good use.  Put the p**p where you want him to go.  Bring him over to smell it when you want him to go.  Praise interest in the p**p (seriously, gross, I know, but dogs dig it).

He could be attracted to the old stains.  Get a specialty stain cleaner with emzymes, to clean up old and new messes.  Consider a professional cleaning to get all the way through the carpet pad if you have them.

  6. Take him on a very long walk after he eats. Bring a bag with. When he goes p**p outside, praise him like heck. He'll get the idea after a few times.

  7. Hes probably pooping in ur house because maybe there was another dog there that did the same. ur dog is probably trying to mark his territory. I had a cat that did that, it never went in her litter box, it went around it ((that really pissed me off)).

Try to get new carpet or if u have wood floors put rugs on them, maybe get a friends dog to p**p and p**s in your yard, your dog might start going out there =).

  8. Not sure if anyone has mentioned this trick yet but it is used in by trainers, for show dogs and in some veterinary clinics. I have been using this trick to get dogs to p**p when I want them to for the past 7 years.

This is going to sound unusual, but I know it works and I trained my jack russell this way. As a puppy, it was as if he waited to p**p in the house after being outside. So invest in a small  box of stick matches (do not ignite them ever) and insert only the fresh sulfur end of the match into the r****m. Never push or force the match all the way into the r****m and there should always be the stick end hanging out of the r****m. Do this right before you go outside the door for your potty routine. This is going to stimulate him to go to p**p because he is going to feel like he has to p**p now (ie. the proverbial "touching cotton" feeling).

If you are not already on a meal feeding plan with your dog than get on one. It is so much harder to potty train a dog if he is being fed free choice meals (meaning you leave the food down all day and he eats whenever he wants to). If you keep to a schedule and feed him morning and night then he will get on a regular bowel movement routine too.

I know the first suggestion sounds disgusting or too funny for words but it works like a charm. Once he gets the idea you can stop using the matches. They are only to be used for a training aid.

I will also say that if ever you were to see that he has a red, inflamed or irritating looking r****m then do not use this trick.

Good luck, I hope this next time around it works out for you. Just hang in there.

  9. oh gee..  I feel sorry for you.

Do you  have carpet in the house?

Pick up all rugs and remove them. If you have tile floors then sanitize them to rid the smell of his scent where he goes poo.

    Is he neutered?

Neutering may help if he is marking.

    other wise...good luck.

  10. Go to www.pedigree.com and click on their training answers - they give a real good and basic article on housetraining your dog/puppy....I think you'll find this most useful,  I put one in every "Adoption Packet" that I give to the new doggie parents when they adopt a new fur kid from my rescue - I've used the techniques myself, and with a ton of love, CONSISTANCY and patience, your little fur kid will get the hang of it.  Best of luck to you.

  11. my stupid dog, whom i love dearly do the same darn thing? I have 3 dogs, my maltese and schnauzer poops outside but my yorkie c**p in side no matter what ive tried....good luck and i hope you find a way that works

  12. How far are you walking the dog when you take him?  If you are home, you can keep him out of the crate.  If the dog goes to p**p, yell "no" immediately.  The dog should never p**p in the house without being disciplined within the first 5 seconds.  When you go out, crate the dog.

When outside, walk the dog for a while.  If the dog does p**p, then give the dog a treat and TONS of praise!  Hopefully the dog will catch on
