Okay, I'm going to make some iced coffee. Since I've turned vegan, I haven't had a lot of coffee, and when I did it was hot and I just used sugar and soymilk. I want some flavoring though to the iced coffee and was wondering what I should put in it. I have some vanilla flavor (for baking recipes and stuff), sugar, agave nectar, and soymilk. What should I use and how much. If I use vanilla, I'm probably going to want to put sugar in it. Agave nectar is already sweet, so I probably would just leave it alone. I'm making about 4 cups by the way.

  1. the only way to tell is if you test it out... try making little cups of each combination to see if you like them.

what I do is just get flavored coffee and then add a little sugar if needed.  I like the chocolate truffle by foldgers.  you would need to check to see if it has milk products in it though, but I'm sure you can find a flavor that doesn't.

  2. You could add some chocolate and whip cream to taste and mix it well and it is really good.  You can also add vanilla for flavoring and it will taste like it came from a coffee store.

  3. the vanilla you use to bake with isn't the same vanilla flavoring they use in coffee drinks

and as for the agave nectar, im sorry! i've never had it :(

what i usually use to flavor my iced coffee is torelli syrups. They're offered in specialty shops, and now even stores like safeway. In fact, there so good that Starbucks uses them too, and if they're good enough for starbucks, they're good enough for me :)

for a more classic taste, try using hershey's chocolate syrup. It makes your coffee pretty smooth tasting, and its super cheap.

And for more flavors, try the Coffeemate coffee creamers, they're great on price, and they taste pretty good.

  4. well a combo of all of those sounds mighty good to me! just go a bit lighter on the sugar since you would have the juice there!!! This is a great chance to experiment and try something new! Get your creative juices flowing!!! I would start with 1/4 of tsp of vanilla and then taste... go up until you get the perfect flavoring for yourself!!! Let me know how it turns out!!!

  5. A little  pepermint   is nice

  6. Make a pot of your favorite coffee and let cool to warm room temperature. Transfer to a pitcher and place in your refrigerator. When you want a cup, add flavored cream & ice.

My friend makes hazelnut coffee & uses hazelnut creamer - it's no different than McDonalds and actually tastes a lot better.

    Good luck & enjoy~
