I'm going to mexico in 2 weeks. How much should I tip my bartender, housekeeping and the taxi driver.?

We are staying at an all inclusive resort. I want to tip my bartender so I will get better faster service. And when tipping should I do it in Pesos or Dollars?

we usually take at least $100  - $150 in ones and $100 in fives for tipping for a week stay.  

we usually tip the bartender $1 per drink

taxi driver -- around 20%

service to or from the hotel (paid as all inclusive add on)

           usually $10 - $20

bell hop --$10

housekeeping --$20 for week

buffet meals -- breakfast, lunch --$2 or $3 dinner $5

meals requiring reservations --$10

dollars are fine for tipping.  u.s. coins are not accepted in mexico.

however, in mexico, i don't think most people tip that much at the all inclusives.  you will get fabulous service if you do tip consistently.  have a great time.

Tip in pesos. Realize tipping is not nessecary. Its a US custom not Mexican. I think tipping in Mexico is stupid myself.

My reason is custom - In China people regulally spit - yes spit. Its there custom and they think nothing of it - Americans , say d**n , " How disgusting - Idiot ! ". Well the taxi driver and hotel maids do the same job and take the $$ and say " Thanks - Idiot !"

NEVER tip a taxi driver. Chances are great that hes already ripping you off because he knows your a gringo with cash, there are no meters so he will quote you a price and you are none the wiser ! Always agree to a price before getting in a taxi.

Dont tip the maid at the hotel - Do you think she has a special towel or sheets for tippers - NO !

Tip a bartender - maybe , well OK he will take care of you sure and get good drinks. I'd say 5 pesos a drink ( 50 cents )

Understand they have no comprehension of $$ the  way we do. They make around 10 us dollars a day and think thats alot. Now comes a gringo that gives them 5 dollars and they look at you as a dumb rich American and laugh at your stupidity for giving away so much money. To us its chump change to them its alot and they cant comprhend it.

Tip the bartender..........Never the taxi guy !!!!

I'm not cheap - heck I give the children in my neighborhood $$$ for candy and their parents $$ for food , and its returned 10 fold. But as a visitor your looked at as a chump and they will keep sticking thier hand out until your breaking point. You will see when you deal with the little children panhandling on the beach. They are professional - sad eyes , dirty clothes - CELL PHONE in pocket, and you want to give them $$$. Your a target.
