This will be my first time to Japan (I'm really excited ^^). I'm going in December...What presents should I buy my host family? Is there anything I definitely shouldn't get them? I'm from New Zealand; should I get them something that represents my country? If so, what would be good?

  1. An All Blacks jersey!

  2. Everyone else from NZ seems to give their host families honey! But I think NZ honey is sold in Japan.

How about a small and tasteful Christmas decoration? Like a little wreath or Christmas candle or something. A lot of Christmas stuff in Japan is Hello Kitty-pink-purple-adorned w feathers-etc. Or how about Christmas cookies in a cute tin or Christmas candy? Anything that's not peppermint, most Japanese people hate peppermint.

Btw everyone in Japan already knows Lord of the Rings was filmed in NZ.

  3. You give your host family a book about New Zealand. Also a penlight or a native doll or a native costume :)

GOD BLESS YOUR TRIP and Congratulations!

  4. Presents from your country are a big thumbs up.

i live in germany and we host alot of kids and we love it when we recieve american/(insert other country here) gifts.

Maybe a t-shirt with the flag, a university shirt, some new zealand food, a small flag?

  5. Give them the the Lord of the Ring Trilogy DVD Box set.

Tell them that the movie was filmed in New Zealand.

OK, how about give them a caged kiwi and give them the bird.

  6. can i come lol.have fun maybe get them an American flag!!a big one with a pole they can put in front of there house
