  1. there's so much to do in Rome. A few must sees are the pantheon, vatican city, trevi fountain, piazza di navona, spanish steps. Also the catacombs under the vatican are pretty cool. That should be more than you can see in three days.

  2. Assume that half of two of your days will be spent unpacking, packing and traveling back to your deportation city.

Spend one of the shorter days in Trestavere on foot.  I think its the 72 bus that takes you there.  It's a great neighborhood with great food and a fabulous flea market.

Spend another day getting on and off the 110 Bus.  If you get up early enough you can hit the Campo di Fiore, Colloseo, Vatican City, Trevi Fountain, etc. all in one day getting on and off the bus.  You will be very busy and tired, but if you start at 8 am and finish about 9 you will get to see everything.  Check out the Vatican schedule though because we missed the cupola because I sat for mass and the cupola closed at 6.

The other part day hit the Spanish steps.  It's a great neighborhood, and if you speak French they have a great theatre at the top of the steps and to the left.

  3. The Colosseum is on the top of my list.  There's a ton of interesting historical sites in Rome.  Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Roman Forum, Spanish Steps, lots of churches with historical and artistic significance.  You might like to go to the Vatican and visit the museums there one day, plus St. Peter's Square and Basilica are beautiful.

Yahoo's travel guide has a pretty good beginner list, and there's lots of guidebooks to show you the highlights.  You will be surprised at how much you can do in just 3 days.

  4. you need 2 weeks to visit Rome!

  5. Hi. I am American and live in Naples (2 hours from Rome).

You can go to the Spanish steps and Trevi fountain all in one day. Spend one day walking around these areas. There is an awesome "wood" store that has very cute gifts (mostly for kids) you will see it.

Dedicate one day to the Vatican.

3rd day- go back to the places you really like or sign up for a tour that takes you outside of Rome.

  6. We had a trip to Rome last year.

Our objective was to cover as much as possible in limited possible budget.

  7. You won't have any problem filling three days just hitting the highlights of Rome in any guidebook. Definitely visit the Spanish Steps; the azalea festival will still be going on. The steps will be full of azaleas. My favorite places are the Pantheon and the Santa Maria Sopra Minerva church near the Pantheon. San Pietro in Vincoli displays the chains that St Peter was brought to Rome and the Moses of Michelangelo. I like to visit the Mouth of Truth whenever I go to Rome too. The best special event in Rome then will be the World Press Photo exhibit in the Museo di Roma.

If you're interested in seeing some of the more offbeat things, there are plenty of choices. Some of the more obscure, but interesting, things are:

The view through the keyhole at the Consiglio di Malta on Aventine Hill. There's a picture here: http://www.theculturedtraveler.com/Archi... and others:

This is worth the effort to find (close to Circus Maximus) - relatively few do. This site give directions on how to find it: http://wikitravel.org/en/Rome/Aventino

The Crypt at Santa Maria della Concezione dei Cappuccini is also worth a visit if you're interested in seeing works of art made from the bones of .more than 4000 monks. http://www.cappucciniviaveneto.it/cappuc...

The Museum of the Souls of Purgatory is essentially a ghost museum.

  8. hey there, i live in rome. you can visit the colosseum but the lines r real long! you can go to piazza navona, piazza argentina, the spanish steps, via del corso and via veneto for shopping, the trevi fountain, you should taste some italian food like pizza,icecream,ravioli...
