  1. I bet you will get more in exchange for the £

  2. They accept US dollars and euros

  3. U.S. Dollars will do quite nicely because the D.R. currency is pegged to the Dollar, so it doesn't float intependently.

I just read the above question.  When you are going to ANY third world country NEVER take any larger currency that a $20 bill.  They don't have the ability in many places to take a $50 bill for a .50 cent item... so take mostly ONE and FIVE dollar bills... then some tens and twenties... but NEVER anything over a twenty.

  4. you will get by fine with either. we just took the dollars for the departure tax and took their local currency for the rest of the time & that got us by absolutely fine.

they accept either so it's really up to you.

  5. Hi Lady...,

The currency you can use at your arrival is the us dollar, and when you need local currency ( Pesos Dominicanos) just take the needed amount from a cashier with your card. This to avoid bad exchange rates. For the moment the rate is 33.50 for one us dollar. You can pay the excursions with us dollars and when you go to do some shopping in town, it is better to pay with the local currency and always bargain the prices!

    Happy to help you

  6. Thats what we took when we went. I cant find anywhere thats says take Euros. You will get all change back in Dominican Peso's though.

  7. They do prefer American Dollars and we went at Christmas and that is what we took.  But you do get change in the local currency.  You can spend either!  Happy Holidays.

  8. Like most foreign countries nowadays, the Dominicans prefer Euros.

  9. We're off to Bavaro in June, 3rd time to Dom Rep. We always take US Dollars. I would also suggest that you request some $1 & $5 dollar bills to tip. These are always welcomed by the maids!!
