I live in Texas and I have a certified copy of my marriage license. The original will come in the mail. Is a certified copy enough or do I need to have the original? I know I should call, but I just thought of this now and it's 10:00 at night. Thanks!!!

  1. I think you should call 1st and maybe save some gas...

  2. In Mississippi I was able to use the certified copy

  3. I think you will need to show the SS Office the original Marriage Certificate (not the marriage license), or if you don't have the original, then get a certified copy (which usually has a raised seal and a handwritten signature--in GA, the Probate Court issues those). Good luck!

  4. Well if anything like Ohio good luck ,you need the originals here I have went here 6 times to change mine I had to have something with my former name on it, not with both on it just former .They DO NOT accept Their social security as I D !!!!!!! when we file income tax they list me with 2 names ago....  way to go government ...  good luck dear!!!

  5. Check with the Social Security Office online, but I believe that they require an original copy of your certificate(so will the DMV, you might want to check with them too). You can go down to your County Recorder's office and pick one up tomorrow.
