  1. Saigon is relatively no more dangerous than any other large city.  Take sensible precautions. Visit the Reunification Palace and Ben Thanh market. English is widely spoken. Shop, eat and drink at Vietnamese restaurants. Hang out at coffee shops and watch the sights and sounds of the city. The Vietnamese are friendly and helpful. Use the taxis from the larger companies and avoid getting in ones if you haven't seen dozens from the same company on the streets. Haggle over prices and check the cost of services up front. Don't give money to street children - this will only result in more of them being exploited in this manner. In tourist areas you may see tourist police in their green uniforms - they are there to help you and can often give advice. Enjoy yourself - 3 days is plenty of time in Saigon, but it is a good as a base and a place to book tours, like to the Mekong Delta.

  2. Don't listen to the dude above, Saigon is pretty much friendly, I recommend going to the shops and etc. And besides, why would there be a Thai War, in Vietnam?

  3. there is plenty to see around the city, was museum, temples,  markets etc, the normal things you see in all cities. you can take a half day side trip to see the tunnels, very interesting and good value, take a day to vung tao beach, and if your able to, and you have enough time, go to dalat in the mountains, its very beautiful lakes views, temples, great cheap markets etc and cheap to stay there also. english is not too difficult to use there, a little sign language, broken english, and most tourist places and hotels have english speaking staff, you will be fine, enjoy the place its great, and nice people

  4. Go ahead and eat at the harbor. Great place to go if your with the person you love. You get to eat and enjoy musics and shows while the HUGE boat moves around the harbor. The ride will be like over an hour and its super fun. Although the prices of the food is not as cheap as local owned restaurant but when it comes to traveling you don't want to be too cheap.

  5. hire a couple armed body guards because last I heard there was a huge thai gang war going on in ho chi minh also carry minimal cash on  you.  watch your back at all times!

  6. well i been to vietnam especially ho chi Ming(call it saigon)  and there u'll find pretty much the rich part like hollywood in the south side of vietnam. the best place i advise u to go is Nga Trang. thats were the 2008 miss universe was held. but in all its sad to say u will find begging kids asking you for money. and once in the city a city road was filled elder moms with baby kids sticking there hands out to tourist. thats was when i was 8.. now i am 14. again watch yourself in the city especially the run downs like the "ghettos city" if you know what i mean. there will be people trying to steal your cash. the best gift shop would be in the airport because i got a mini airplane there. it was fun until i left my mom's village and looking back.if your a tourist go to the coast for the boats and they will take you to the mountains. thats what i know. i also know that they have a water park but its dirty because people urinate in there. all in all stay in the city especially get a hotel right across teh beach. you wiill find tourist there and people speaking english.
