  1. If you buy goods to take home with you (NOT to use in the UK!) from a store operating the Visitors' VAT refund scheme, save your receipts and fill out a claim form at the VAT refund bureau at your departure airport.

  2. VAT in the UK is usually 17.5%. but children products are 5%. and basic food as well, like bread, milk, bake deans and some microwave foods.

  3. look, if you live outside the EU then you can reclaim you VAT before leaving the UK. You must spend over a certain amount in a particular store, then you fill out an application form in the store. You then go to the VAT customs desk in the Airport and you can get your monry back before you get on your plane.

  4. josephs right, the form has to be completed AT the store, you cannot simply keep your receipts for a refund any more. the form is VAT407 and the store will keep a stock of them. not all store operate the vat refund scheme though, its up the to store owners as to whether they will operate this scheme for you.

if you're still not sure, when you get here ring 0845 010 9000 option 1, its the vat advice line, they can tell you more
