Question:

I'm going vegan starting today! And advice for me?

after years of eating meat and animal products which are genetically modified, my hormones became messed up. I know it's from the food i eat and i'm told to cut dairy and later meat. I'm determined to do it. what should I eat as a vegan? lots of beans, tofu...what else????

  1. Uhmm eat lots of salads & vegetable & try 2 stay away from meat & no fish it still reproduces & qrows & breathes conqrats thouqh on becominq a veqan =)

  2. Eat everything but animal products! You don't need to go out of your way eating tons of beans and tofu to get protein, you should get plenty already from your diet.

    Rice, pasta, bread, legumes, fruits, vegetables, seasonings, and nuts.

    Be strong! You'll be tempted at first but don't give in! In a few weeks your body will adjust and you'll feel light and free.

  4. First congratulations on your decision to stop participating in the killing. And yes you will see an improvment in your heath, both short term and long term. I have been a vegetarian (no fish, poultry, meat) for 34 years. If it had a mother, I will not eat it. The effect (benefit) of long term  vegetarian life is a wonderful event. Advice,... take it easy, but do it!

    You mention you are avoiding dairy.  I have not taken a glass of milk in 30+ years, but I still use vegetarian cheese. (animal rennet free) and yoguarts if I know for sure no additives. I have no problem in eating honey, no bee is slaughtered for its honey. Meat should be avoided, avoided avoided. Meats harm more than just your body. Ideas: eggless pasta, homemade bread with additive free flours. There are so many ways to make bread and so many different bread types to make.Flat, round, soft, hard, salted,thick, thin, so many!  So many  different types of beans, lentals, pulses etc and so many different ways to prepare them. Same with vegitables and fruits. There are many excellent vegetarian cooks books on the market now (Yahoo/Google search) and you will find many new favorite foods. Advice, spend some time and read a few of these books. Beans and tofu are not the only food for vegetarians and the creativity in preparing vegetarian foods is endless. Visit vegetarian restaurants and get some ideas, Indian restaurants same effect. Have fun with your new life long venture. My experience,.vegetarian diet helps the body function more efficiently and elevates the mind. You will be happy.

  5. Hey! Contedngratulations! I'm not a vegan but i just wanted to make sure you know that the people suggesting you eat seafood and pasta are wrong. Vegitarians and vegans should not eat any type of animal and most pasta contains egg. Just wanted to give you a heads up! : ) Good Luck

  6. i am sorry that this isn't answering your question, but you need to report that guy. I wrote a question about being vegetarian and he left a website with a picture of a fat lady and said this is you in 6 mons. Something needs to be done about him i don't even Know him but what he wrote/ is writing to vegetarians is rude!!

  7. Congratulations on your decision to go vegan, it's a healthy and beneficial one! Not only are you going to improve your health, you will contribute to stopping animal slaughter, and you will help the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. I applaud you. However, I think you need to gradually progress to it. You need to start of slow and eliminate animal products one by one starting with red meat, then poultry, then fish, then dairy, etc. Your body will probably react if you cut off what it is accustomed to eating all of a sudden. So, I recommend becoming a vegetarian first before you go Vegan. That’s what I am doing. Also, it's a great way to train your body to reject meat so the possibility of relapsing is less likely. I have friends who all of a sudden became vegetarians without gradually working it into their diets, and they relapsed after a month or two because their body craved everything they were accustomed to. When you become a vegetarian or vegan, you’re adopting soy products into your diet forever: soy milk, soy cheese, anything that’s supposed to be dairy is made out of soy, also Boca burgers, and yes tofu, etc. You’re on the right track.   8. Congratulations!   I would actually recommend starting slow and eliminating one thing for a few days,then adding another. For example, first no meat, then no dairy, and then cut out eggs.  To ensure your success, it helps to plan out meals and snacks which can be time consuming to a new vegan.  This will also allow your body to adjust and set you up to succeed. Don't forget to add fiber and healthy fats (walnuts, almonds, avocados, olive oil) into your diet to keep you from getting too hungry between meals.

    Vegans and vegetarians do not eat sea creatures.
