In a couple of days, we are going to London. On the last three days we will be staying in Paris, France. What can a family do in three days?

Like I'm sure we'll dedicate a day to the Louvre. But what else?

We are two adults, one sixteen year old guy, one fifteen year old girl, and a 10 year old boy.

  1. We were just there in May, but we had a week....the Louvre

is cool, but way too much to see, we went on Wed when its

open late, spent a few hours in the evening and hit the

major attractions, the Mona Lisa, Venus DeMilo, some of

the ancient Egyptian and Persian artifacts,   the dOrsay's

top floor with the Impressionists were incredible.  We walked

along the Seine from the Notre Dame to the Eiffel Tower

and then climbed the stairs to the 2nd level, the views are

incredible.  You should try the dinner cruises on the Seine.

We found a smaller boat that had mostly locals dining there,

Its the Calife Cafe, they have a website (all in French-but neat

photos and the menu   www.calife.com.   The cruises

aren't cheap, their dinner was either 49 or 70 euro-but the

food was incredible and the boat small and friendly (not like the huge barges most tourists get on.   You definitely need

    reservations   phone #s    01 46 55 66 15  or

    01 43 54 50 04

We figured its a once in a lifetime thing you need to do,

    well worth the price.

The catacombs were cool- a lot  of families with kids were

running thru there. Its easy to get to by Metro, just across

the street from the Denfert Rochereau stop on the 6.

You should buy the Metro Visite cards for the 3 days you are

there (much easier than trying to drive thru all those one way

streets that switch back and forth - parking is really tough, too)  The card is a great deal, you can ride the Metro and

trains as much as you want for 1-5 days,

We stayed in Montmartre, the steps in front of the Sacre

Coeur reminded us of the Spanish Steps in Rome, its

usually got an interesting crowd hanging out, performers

and musicians, plus a great city view.  The Pigalle area

has a lot of art galleries besides the red light district (where

you will find the Moulin Rouge.

Get a good guide, we love the Lonely Planet books, and

pick out what appeals to your family, you don't have a lot of

time, so pick out the most important.  And watch out for

the cafes....we had some of the best and a lot of the worst

meals in Paris.  It sorta surprised us, we were expecting

great cuisine and found it rather hit and miss (tho the Calife

Cafe dinner cruise was excellent)  not like Italy - where its

    hard to find bad cooking.

  3. The best museum to go to is Musee d'Orsay across the Seine from the Louvre.  It is there you can find all the impression era art.  A definite 10.  Make sure you see Notre Dame and L'Hotel de Ville at night.  The area called St. Germaine des Pres is a great area to explore (on the Left Bank).  Most of just walk alot.  Walk from the Louvre through the Tuileries (sp?) to the Arc de Triomphe.  Paris is truly a beautiful city.

    Have Fun.
