one is a jalapeno and the other is a poblano. the jalapeno is staying small plant wise but is sprouting many flowers. and the poblano is getting big but isnt sprouting any more flowers. also the one jalapeno pepper that was the first to sprout grew to be a about a inch long and stopped. and then from there the pepper turned red, not just red but cherry red! I already removed it as i was told by people i know, but i just want to know what does this mean? also i did pluck the first round of flowers on each plant. please let me know if there is anything that i need to do to get me some good peppers.

  1. I've been growing peppers for 3 years.  I have found that the website Pepper Joe's is the best place for pepper info.

pinch off the side leaves, not the flowers, this helps it to bush out.

try growing your peppers in big pots with potting soil.

before you plant, strike a book of matches, shake them out, and add it to the hole before you plant. (they love the sulfur).

use Epsom salt as a fertilizer.

you can also dig up your plants and take them inside for the winter.(crazy right?)

read all about peppers and look at the pictures that bloggers left.   http://www.pepperjoe.com/faq.html

    Good luck.

  2. Sounds like to me you are using a high nitrogen fertilizer such as all purpose miracle grow..peppers do not respond to nitrogen well and this will give you all leaves and no peppers....I just bet you are using nitrogen fertilizers..

read under "potting" on this link..
