I'm hairstylist I have some clients I work hrly would like to move on renting a station how should I start?

  1. Go around to your local area hair salons and ask them if they are renting space.

    What area of town do you live in ~ maybe I could tell you some if I was familiar w/ where you are from...

Years ago my stylist went from employee to renter and I asked her.  She said she wanted more control of her time, etc.  By renting she lost all benefits like health insurance.  But in the end she said it worked out about the same income, but she had a good client base.  Since then she has moved several times and her customers generally follow her.

    Let your regulars know you are thinking of renting and what changes will occur, e.g., costs going up???  Figure how you are going to cover insurance, the rent, products, etc.  

    But to me the word "some" says you don't have a big enough client base to try the change at this point.  Talk to other stylists you trust/friends and see what they think; they are the best judge.
