  1. Take this job and shove it. I ain't working here no more! : )

  2. To who it may concern  or Dear xxxx,

This letter is to inform you that my last day at x*x company will ( insert date).

Thank you for all you have done,

    ( your name here)

  3. never burn your bridges ....... you may miss it try ... It is with regret that as from dd/mm/yy I wish to terminate my employment with yourselves. you need not give explanation its upto you. good luck with new job

  4. All the tips here are good.

Although, I wouldn't add "I would be happy to train a replacement" or "I request to be considered for re-hire, etc"

That's up to management to decide.

A brief explanation as to why you're leaving is due on any resignation letter, after all, they deserve one- unless, they've been complete horses dung to you.

Keep it professional and positive. Don't include any negative remarks such as "I feel I haven't been treated fairly while employed here...." or "I''ve been offered a position from a company who can appreciate my talents and potential....." Believe it or not, people write all kinds of stuff they regret later.

  5. I wrote a similar letter for my daughter last week. Just write your address top right, their company name and address on the left below it, then put the date. Then put it for the attention of your line manager (either by name or position). If you have an employee / payroll number put that as well.

    Then write:

    Dear (name of person)

I write to inform you that I hereby resign my position as (description of job) with effect from (date, time).

    Yours sincerely etc etc.

Some people choose to write a brief reason for their desire to leave, but it's not really necessary. The above line is sufficient for you to honour your obligations under employment laws.

  6. Seven years is along time so try to leave on good terms. I'd just say although you had enjoyed working there ( if you had ) you felt it was time to move on and therefore you would be leaving on ???.

  7. Be polite in order to keep options open and ensure you get a good reference if your new employer asks them for one.

Never burn your bridges - the world of work is too small for this and it will come back to bite you on the bum later if you are rude.

    Just say something like:

I have enjoyed my time working with you, however, I feel that I need to leave now in order to seize a new opportunity and move my career in a new direction.

  8. To Whom It May Concern

                Go forth and multiply

               Yours sincerely S E M

  9. Dear ................

This letter shall serve as my letter of resignation.  My last day of employment will be ...................  I appreciate the opportunities that I have been given while employed with ..............

    Respectfully,

  10. Keep it simple.

    Dear (employer):

The purpose of this is to advise you that I have been offered and have accepted a new position elsewhere.

I would like to thank you for the opportunities and experiences that I have gained while employed by (your company) and feel that I can use these skills in my new capacity.

My last date of employment will be (date) thus giving a two week notice. I will be happy to train a replacement if need be.

Further, I would like to request that I am considered eligible for rehire in the event that things change in your situation or mine because I am leaving on good terms.

    Respectfully,

    NAME
