I'm having a Star Wars/Star Trek Crossover wedding, do you have any ideas about how to accomplish this?

I am giving my boyfriend that ultimate geek wedding: a Star Wars/Star Trek crossover. He will be wearing an Admirals uniform, I will be wearing Padme's Lake Dress. The minister will be Captain Kirk, the ring bearer will be Darth Sidious. Beyond this I'm at a loss for how to do a decent mash-up of the two.

Oh, I wish you were willing to go to Las Vegas, because the Star Trek experience at the Hilton is fabulous, and they do weddings.  At least check out their pictures -- isn't the cake awesome?  In the "Starfleet" package, you have your choice of characters to be present:  Choice of: Klingon, Ferengi, Andorian, Vulcan or BORG.

I got beat to the red shirt idea - but I was going to suggest it for the groomsmen. This is his day, and they're the supporting cast. That, and if there's a crisis it's their job to "take the bullet" and keep things running smoothly for the main character.

Use songs from the movies for processional and recessional.

If you're using a car, decorate it to look like a generic spaceship (I don't think you can do any sort of specifics, because that might make it unsafe for the road).

If you're having a reception perhaps the place can be decorated to look like a bar from Star Wars or Star Trek, there's lots in both of those.

Name tables after various planets/alien races.

Sorry i dont really have no ideas but your wedding sounds like its going to be a lot of fun.  I am doing a 1920s gangster theme for mines.

Just wanted to say way-ta-go on making your wedding uniquely yours. Sounds like a faboo time! You can go online and find all sorts of trinkets and stuff that are themed around your idea, i am sure. Good luck!

Wow, you must really love this guy. Usually the wedding is all about the bride and what she wants. Do you really want this, or are you just trying to make him happy? Only do it, if you really loooove Star Wars, or you will resent it and him later on.

As for the wedding ideas, I am at a loss and can offer no advise. However, I would love to see it. You should post it on youtube, sounds interesting.

Nice!  OK, here's an idea- instead of an Admiral's uniform, have your groom wear an Enterprise uniform with a red shirt- kind of a tongue-in-cheek joke about how the ones in the red shirts on the original Star Trek used to get killed off first (cause he's getting married, LOL)

What are your thoughts on Klingon groomsmen?  The makeup might get hot for them, but it would look cool in pics.  

On your way in, march in to the Imperial March from Star Wars (you know, the Darth Vader song), and then on the way out, march out to the jazzed-up 60's Star Trek theme song.

Oh, yeah, instead of "Dearly Beloved," have the Captain Kirk minister open with "Marriage...the final frontier..."

Ooh, and when you enter your reception, have them play that song that the band in the cantina in Cloud City was playing...and have the groomsmen make an arch for you to walk under out of light sabers, like the arch of swords that the Marines do at weddings.

Maybe you could get a wedding cake shaped like the Millennium Falcon?  Or the Death Star?  That would be AWESOME!!!!!
